Explore Coolum Beach
A beachside base for an unhurried Sunshine Coast visit, with cafés, ocean views and easy access to other coastal towns. Keep a relaxed village day separate from a strenuous Mount Coolum walk.
Separate a beach day from a summit day
A village stroll and beach visit are different experiences from climbing Mount Coolum. If the summit is important, make it the main activity and allow for the group’s fitness, suitable footwear and conditions. If you want an easy day, keep the focus on the village and coastal outlooks.
A comfortable plan
Choose a beachside meal and a short walk with an easy return. Check current patrol information before swimming and keep an alternative plan for rough weather.
A relaxed coastal day
Start with a walk along the beachfront and a café stop in the village. Leave room in your schedule to enjoy the setting rather than treating Coolum as a quick photo stop. If swimming is part of your plan, check the patrol area and conditions on arrival and follow lifeguard advice.
Mount Coolum: plan a separate walk
Mount Coolum is a different outing from a flat beachfront stroll. The summit route involves sustained uphill walking and uneven steps. Check Queensland Parks’ current track information, closures and weather before deciding whether it suits everyone in your group. Take water and sturdy shoes; do not promise the summit as an accessible stop for all travellers.

Suggested visit
Spend the morning near the beach and village, then enjoy a relaxed lunch. Travellers wanting a walking-focused visit can instead plan Mount Coolum first, allowing a generous buffer before any timed afternoon activity. Avoid combining a demanding walk, several beaches and a distant hinterland lunch into a short day.
Food and shopping
Choose local cafés and shops around the beachfront village. For group meals, book ahead and confirm dietary requirements and access with the venue. Pacific Fair and Robina Town Centre are on the Gold Coast and are not local Coolum shopping stops.
Combining Coolum with nearby places
A coastal itinerary can continue towards Noosa or Mooloolaba. Choose one direction and check travel times from your actual accommodation. If your priority is Maleny or Montville, treat that as a hinterland route with additional driving time.
Practical planning checklist
- Check current attraction hours, road conditions and park alerts before travelling.
- Ask about step-free access, walking distances, toilets and vehicle access for anyone with mobility needs.
- Carry water and sun protection. Swim only where conditions and patrol advice allow; follow the red and yellow flags.
- Use Translink to check current public transport options and connections.
- Confirm admission, meals, tastings and pickup arrangements in writing. They are included only when specified in your booking.
Plan a private or group day
Email your preferred date, passenger numbers, pickup address, return time and the stops that matter most. Include children’s ages, mobility requirements and any luggage. We will confirm availability, price and applicable terms before you commit. An enquiry does not reserve a tour, and cancellation conditions depend on the confirmed service.
